Manterfields were brilliant during the whole process of building our kitchen extension and the substantial internal building works. As well as the extension we had the pre-existing kitchen changed into a dining area and added a wet room. Upstairs we took out all of the internal walls between the two main bedrooms and the bathroom to create a new bathroom, ensuite to the main bedroom and create space for a fitted wardrobe for the main bedroom.
The extension looks amazing, thanks to both the quality of the workmanship and Craig’s advice, things I wouldn’t have thought of make a huge difference, but Craig isn’t pushy like some of the companies who quoted. Other companies seemed only interested in up selling and pushed for things we didn’t want. Craig offered suggestions, clearly laid out options and alternatives, but didn’t push.
I was really impressed with Craig’s ability to manage the whole process and bring in the right people and skills to ensure the work went smoothly. All of the team were good craftsmen, considerate and friendly. They worked well with our kitchen company and their fitter so there were no problems with installing the new kitchen.
Craig and his team are “can do” people and they listen and did everything they could to realise our vision and ensure we could still live in the house throughout the whole process. We’d also like to thank Andrea back at base, who kept us informed and saved the whole project when our original plans were stopped by Yorkshire Water just a few weeks before they were due on site; a shoulder to cry on, she found a new architect for us who drew up new plans for a completely different extension in a week. Without her and Craig’s support we wouldn’t have been able to go ahead at all.
Manterfields were also very reasonable when we made changes during the build and quickly organised and completed the additional work at a reasonable cost.
Having such major building and renovation work is going to create stress unless you move out. Manterfields kept this down to a minimum. In fact we quite miss them now they’ve left!
The only criticism I could make was the work took longer than originally quoted, but the kichen company we used informed us this is normal and they have never known a build to finish on time.
I’ve recommended Manterfields to anyone who is thinking of having an extension and would be happy for people considering Manterfields to come and look at their work.
